LET THE COMPETITIONS BEGIN
hump_brlnAs winter arrives around the planet earth most of us get to go shredding with no stress or drama, but unfortunately our Team has to work while we get to play.  By work I mean compete.  Competitions have become a high stakes gamble these days, whether performing life risking tricks or just the actual conditions of the course or the fact that they are sleep deprived due to going through several different time changes while traveling from event to event.
slUsoThis last weekend our very own Tim "Humpy" Humphreys was competing at the infamous Air n Style in Innsbruck Austria, which he fell pretty hard.  This weekend is the Grand Prix up at Copper Mountain, Colorado and the following weekend is the Dew Tour in Breckenridge where the Flow Team will be representing.  So let the contests begin and we at Flow wish every snowboarder out there the best of luck in whatever and wherever they are competing in this 2009-2010 season.

PRODUCT PROFILE

frLong before there were features, parks and terrain built for us at our local ski areas there was a thing called Big Mountain Riding.  BMR, if you would, has become extinct to most or not even heard of to several of today’s kiddies. It's not their fault, the kids are little sponges that absorb any and every type of action they see and unfortunately we don't see enough BMR in the mags and videos these days.
Well we at Flow will never forget to once in a while put our short boards down and pick up something bigger in the 160 size range.   Pictured is
Max Zipser who is no stranger to BMR on one of his Flow Solitude Snowboards... with "Pow Rock"; a reverse camber made especially for POWDER that RULES!!!

Board: Flow Solitude

Boot: Flow The One BOA Focus

Binding: Flow NXT-FRX

REGULAR CAMBER vs REVERSE CAMBER BOARDS

The reverse camber boards were introduced to the snow industry a while back and just now became popular to the masses. To some, it feels loose and out of control and to others, it's a dream ride. Regular camber overall will be easier on landings and way more responsive than the reverse cam boards. But you will have an easier time riding powder or doing nose and tail presses with reverse.
The reverse camber comes in several different types and styles. We at Flow have a couple that have been turning some major heads. One is the Era; which comes with our patented "I-Rock" reverse camber.  This board rules for presses, rails, boxes and any other part of the mountain thats thrown in front of you.

Then we have the Flow Solitude with "Pow Rock"; this is the ultimate board for big mountain and free riding experiences read more in the product profile below. Let us know what you prefer and cast your vote on our FLOG.  Just look on the top right side below the Flog header.

TEAM UPDATE: DECEMBER 1ST PDF Print E-mail

flogoblkTEAM UPDATE:

Scotty Lago: Scott was chilling out at his new home out in New Hampshire, USA getting ready for the contest circuit to begin.  He's out in Colorado training in the 22ft pipe for the Grand Prix at Copper Mtn. Colorado.  This comp is pretty important seeing it's for points to get into the Olympics.  So Scotty will stay for a bit in Summit County since the Dew Tour is the next event a week later up at Breckenridge, Colorado.

Brandon Reis: Brando has just returned out East as well where he has been donating his old Flow equipment to the needy snow shredders of the Ice Coast.  He was in Breckenridge jumping around in the Peak 8 park, he says the 3 jumps are a bit small but super fun for trying new stuff with his old coach from Waterville Valley Ski Area.  Brando will be moving to North Lake Tahoe on December 1st and then he plans on heading back to Breck in order to attend the Dew Tour.

Jeremy Thompson:
Stompson has been in Breckenridge playing around in town and on the mountain; no his antics never stop, as you may recall how he acts in the Bad Reputation video, well thats the true JT, the sh*! never ends with that kid.  He plans on spending Thanksgiving with his great family out in New York and now he's back to CO for the Grand Prix and Dew Tour.

Tim Humpreys: Humpy has been maxin and relaxin at home; Basking Ridge, New Jersey.  Where he's bored and wants to go snowboarding, a few weeks ago he hung out at the Lago Casa (home in Spanish) and enjoyed shotgun shopping with Senior Lago himself.  He as well will be out in Breck for the Dew Tour

Sarka Pancochova: Sarka has been killing it out in Europe, as a matter of fact she placed 4th at the Pleasure Jam which helped her take over the #1 spot in the TTR World Ranks.  Sarka just flew out to Copper Colorado for the Grand Prix and the Dew Tour in Breck with the rest of the Flow squad.

Scot Brown: Brown Town has been keeping it as real as it gets up across the boarder, in Whistler, Canada.  He says the snow has been finally falling and accumulating day by day by the meters/feet.  Scot has been training hard and plans on cruising down to Colorado for the Dew Tour as well.

Atsushi Ishikawa: (At-sushi) Sush Dogg is at home in Japan spending time with his beautiful family before he hits the road and fly's out to Breck for the De Tour.  He has been riding a bunch and is soooo ready for the season to really start, he say's these conditions are such a tease.

Morgan LeFaucheur: Morg was in Switzerland and the French Alps for three weeks where he was riding the parks in Les Diablerets a resort close to Lausanne in Switzerland,he claims the park is really fun there and it's perfect for the beginning of the season.  After his trip he did a photo shoot in the Maurienne area with Math George from OnBoard Magazine.  He plans on shredding the French Alps for a few weeks.

SNOWBOARD-MAGS PLATINUM PICK

plat

platFlow Snowboarding is stoked to receive the Platinum Pick Excellence in Design Award for our 2009-2010 Flow NXT-FSE Binding in the December issue of Snowboard-Mag.  Mike Basher the Editor of the mag hand picked this bad boy out of several other bindings for this award.  He notes how sick the binding is with it's reclining highback that can be canted and how the top strap is very comfortable because it evenly disperses pressure across your foot.

So go pick up your copy of the newest Snowboard-Mag or just go get yo self some new NXT-FSE's.  Thanks for the award Snowboard-Mag, we would like to thank all that made this possible, the Academy, our local resorts, our family, our bosses, the shops that carry Flow and most importantly our fans... now that's a speech good enough for the Academy Awards.

KIDS WILL BE KIDS

Nowadays the Future Generation of children are know as Generation Z and that’s the kids born between 1994 & 2009.  With the last Gen kids...Generation-Y, riders like Scotty Lago hit mega jumps and have banger video parts these days and it’s no wonder why little people are not scared to “step it up”.  I see kids all over the world hitting a jump or rail that I would never think of hitting when I was their age.  It just shows us how comfortable we get as humans if we see someone else doing or trying something, even if that something is a huge kicker.  Kids will be kids, including some of the Flow Micron Team; Pictured above on right: 12 yr old Felix "Fixe" Reichi of Germany, not pictured: Jack Herald, Freddy Silber, Drayden Gardner, pictured upper left 10 yr old Chris "Spider" Depaula of the USA and pictured below: 12 yr old Gabe McGoveren of USA.  More on these little destroyers coming soon on flow.com
